Oxshott

In what used to be called London’s stockbroker belt, Oxshott is situated between Esher and Leatherhead and has been described by the Daily Telegraph as “the most expensive village in England.”

Until late in the 19th century the village was surrounded by heath and scrubland and connected to nearby villages only by footpaths, but in 1885 the nature of it changed forever with the building of the railway and the establishment of Oxshott Station. However, building of property was limited by The Crown Commissioners to mansions suitable for occupation by wealthy families and so the area became exclusive and remains so today.

Famous residents include many Chelsea FC football players and other current and past sportsmen including the golfer Colin Montgomery, and footballers Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Le Saux.

Shopping facilities are available in Oxshott village, although these are generally of a specialist nature, rather than catering for day to day shopping. So for this you will need to travel to Esher and Leatherhead.
