Children’s Activities

Here are a few activities that younger children can enjoy in and around Kingston upon Thames:

Thames Ditton Miniature Railway
A wonderful day out for the children. Places to picnic, cafe on site and you can buy tickets to ride the model railway. Run entirely by volunteers. On open days they run a variety of trains most are steam locomotive operated. All passengers get the opportunity to ride on different trains. Open on Easter Sunday and Monday, then the first Sunday of the month and every Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday until the first Sunday in October, from 13:00. Trains run from 14:00 to 17:30. Wendy’s Workshop
Wendy’s Workshop is the place to go to try a variety of different crafts, including ceramics and other workshops and crafts for people of all ages. They hold children’s and adults parties; do baby hand and footprints in paint on pottery and there is a play area for the under 5’s. Children’s workshops are held over half terms and holidays, and adult evening workshops in knitting, beaded jewellery, sewing, quilting, lampworking and enamelling. 432 Richmond Road, Kingston Upon Thames KT2-5PU

Jellybugs Play Cafe
Jellybugs play cafe is a lovely play area with lots of space for little ones to burn off some energy. All set within a garden theme, you’ll find play frames, soft play, bouncy castle and much more! The Rotunda, Clarence Street, Kingston, KT1 1QJ

Albany Park Canoeing and Sailing Centre
Watersports centre based on River Thames between Kingston Bridge and Teddington Lock offering kayaking, open canoeing, dinghy sailing and mountain biking. Courses run for children and adults. Albany Mews, Albany Park Rd, Kingston KT2 5SL. Phone 020 8549 3066

Kingfisher Leisure Centre
The Kingfisher has family facilities including leisure pool, learner pool, creche, cafe/bar, health studio, children’s activity programme. Fairfield Rd in Kingston town centre

Rocking Robins
Imagine taking your child to a gig where you can enjoy it together rather than sitting there wondering when it’s going to end…now you can! Rocking Robins is run by a professional rock musician who has combined traditional percussion instruments and nursery rhymes with the opportunity to play guitar, drums and electric keyboard as well as sing and dance to pop and rock songs.
